Target audience
This skills-based course is aimed at pulmonologists and is appropriate for participants with limited knowledge and experience in this field. Theoretical lectures will provide an overview of pleural diseases, identify and discuss when thoracoscopy is indicated to explore pleural abnormalities and diagnose diseases as well as to treat patients with pleural effusion.
Educational aims
Participants are provided with a guide on how to perform rigid thoracoscopy successfully and are made aware of possible complications which can arise. Post procedure and best practice in the follow up of the intervention are presented. Course participants have the opportunity to implement this theoretical knowledge in small practical workshops by performing thoracoscopy on deceased animals.
