Cystic fibrosis: not just for the specialists

Aims: To describe the specific treatment of the chloride channel basic defect by using new therapies (e.g., ivacaftor), the emergency care of a CF patient who is admitted to a non-CF centre, how to overcome diagnostic dilemmas in CF, thereby ensuring that patients are not incorrectly diagnosed with non-CF bronchiectasis and recent advances regarding selection criteria and outcomes in lung transplantation.
Target audience: All adult and paediatric respiratory clinicians and specialists, especially non-CF specialists but also those who work in a CF centres.
