PG02 Current clinical problems in pulmonology

Postgraduate Course
Chairs: M. Marvisi (Cremona, Italy), U. Oltmanns (Heidelberg, Germany)
Aims: Our increasing understanding of different aspects of respiratory medicine has given rise to new questions and problems. These include the following:
• The sometimes problematic differential diagnosis of interstitial lung disease;
• The growing but often ignored knowledge about drug-induced lung disease;
• The right indications for and interpretation of high-resolution computer tomography in different aspects of chest medicine; and
• That despite growing evidence showing that comorbidities play a significant role in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma, there is a lack of guidance on when and how to treat such comorbid conditions.
This postgraduate course will focus on these pressing clinical questions in respiratory medicine to help pulmonologists make better decisions in their everyday clinical practice on the basis of the best available scientific evidence.
