Bronchiectasis: new insights in diagnosis and treatment

Lunchtime session
Chairs: S. Aliberti (Milan, Italy), E. Grainger (London, United Kingdom)
Aims: The prevalence of bronchiectasis in the United Kingdom increased by 40% between 2004 and 2014. Similar increases have been observed worldwide (European Respiratory Journal 2016 47: 186–193). The rising burden of this disease has led to intense research activity on potential treatments, including multiple randomised controlled trials. Despite this, treatment options remain limited and clinical management is challenging. This joint Lancet/Lancet Respiratory Medicine session aims to give an overview of the latest treatments, clinical developments and cutting-edge research in both adult and paediatric bronchiectasis.
