Patient selection for Bronchoscopic Lung Volume Reduction Therapy with Intra Bronchial Valves: An interactive training course

Practical Workshop
Chairs: R. Eberhardt (Heidelberg, Germany), A. Valipour (Vienna, Austria)
Aims: This course will discuss the criteria of patient selection for bronchoscopic lung volume reduction therapy with Intra Bronchial Valves. Participants will learn about inclusion- and exclusion criteria and target lobe identification for valve therapy based on the correlation of emphysema heterogeneity, fissure completeness and perfusion analysis. An introduction to current developments in CT based software analysis of lung parenchyme may allow a glance on probable aids for standardization of patient selection. Interactive discussion of case studies will round up this training course: Based on full patient data the participants will learn to translate the basics of patient selection into practice. The course will help participants to establish a best practice valve therapy service at their sites.
