Educational aims

Following the course participants will be able to:

  • Understand the experience of the patients experience with advanced chronic respiratory disease
  • Understand the concept and opportunities of integration of palliative care into the care of the acutely or critically ill patient and their family
  • Manage severe dyspnoea in patients with chronic respiratory disease
  • Describe the importance, current status and directions for improvement of advance care planning for patients with chronic respiratory disease
  • Know when and how to introduce advance care planning
  • Identify strategies to improve the quality of palliative care for patients and families by enhancing interdisciplinary communication
