Aims: To describe the concerns and issues faced by patients who find physical activity difficult and how these issues can be addressed, review the current evidence on the direct links between physical activity and lung health, describe the public health problem that is physical inactivity and its impact and discuss how taking the active option can be promoted in areas where air quality is problematic.
Target audience: All healthcare professionals who are interested in the link between physical activity and lung health, especially those who must advise their patients about the importance of physical activity in general and encourage their patients with respiratory conditions to become active.
